The Flying Samaritans October Clinic took place on Saturday, October 19 at Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos. We were able to offer general medical, pediatric and obstetric/gynecological services along with dental hygiene and reading and prescription eyeglasses.
Patients were already lined up when the clinic was opened at 8:00 a.m. With Maria Kenneally and Shelly Collins on the direct plane we were able to start providing general medical and dental cleaning services right away. Upon arrival about an hour later Gail Brown and Claudia Hart started seeing ob/gyn and pediatric patients, respectively. Cory Lovett and Bonnie Lassen served as interpreters. Shelly Collins saw dental hygiene patients with the help of Trish Dill. Pat McClure assisted in dental.
In addition, Larry and Tom handed out the prescription glasses which had been ordered for patients months earlier and fitted reading glasses and sunglasses.
Pilot Larry Karpurk and co-pilot, Tom Frazier, provided the direct to clinic transportation and an overnight in Loreto. A big welcome to a new pilot, Brice Dill, who transported volunteers to Mulegé and Lopez along with co-pilot, Pat McClure.
The Aeromédicos of Santa Barbara provided their support with Jim Gaskin and Terry Harris, pilots and triage help, along with Brian Lallement, interpreter.
Judith Logan had the clinic cleaned and ready for use and her brother, Roberto, provided an excellent lunch for all. Rosa Ochoa at the Feliz Camarón provided an excellent breakfast.
Our next clinic will take place on November 16. We are very much in need of dentists, a pharmacist, interpreters and, of course, pilots.
Remember your dues help pay for our medications, supplies and upkeep on the clinic. Donations are also accepted. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
Until next month,
Bonnie Lassen
