The Flying Samaritans April 2025 clinic took place on April 25 at Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos. Pilots Paul Rowley, Brice Dill and Steve Logan provided transportation to the clinic. Paul’s plane was the direct to Lopez plane with passengers Karen León, Shelly Collins and Bonnie Lassen. Once again, cool air and strong winds greeted us upon arrival. Friday afternoon was spent cleaning and setting up for the Saturday clinic.
We had an early morning start on Saturday with Karen performing her triage duties and Shelly starting with her dental hygiene patients. The two planes from Mulegé arrived in a timely fashion and Maria Kenneally, along with her student Chandler Collins, provided medical care for adults and children. Gail Brown provided gyn/ob care and Patricia Henthorn handled the chiropractic patients.
Paul and Steve dispensed reading glasses and sunglasses and Brice helped in the pharmacy. Trish Dill helped in the hygiene area and Ana Torres and Cory Lovett served as interpreters for the providers. Patients were also provided with personalized booklets containing health and dietary information and fun coloring pages for the children depicting healthy food choices. All in all, 120 services were provided for the patients.
Roberto Logan, once again, served up a delicious lunch.
At the end of the day we all returned to the Hotel Serenidad in Mulegé and shared a pleasant dinner together.
Remember that the funds that make our clinic successful come from donations and dues payments. The money is used to purchase medications, dental and medical equipment, cleaning supplies and upkeep on the building. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable, nonprofit organization.
Our next two clinics will take place on May 17 and June 21. The June clinic will close out our season and we will resume visits in October.
If you know of folks who might be interested in volunteering with us, please refer them to our website, www.flyingsamaritans.com which contains a lot of useful information and contact information for each specialty.
A big thank you to all of the volunteers for a very successful clinic.
