The Flying Samaritans Phoenix Chapter clinic took place on March 21st at our Lopez Mateos location,  Our pilots this time were Pat McClure, Chuck Schroll, Greg Hatch, Steve Logan and Paul Rowley.  Once again, Paul and his passengers were the direct to Lopez plane arriving Friday afternoon to prepare the clinic for Saturday.  The other planes spent both nights in Guaymas.  Our thanks go out to the pilots who are willing to volunteer their aircraft and expertise to transport our volunteers.

Paul, Karen Felty, Kimberly Kolinsky and Bonnie Lassen cleaned and set up for the Saturday clinic.  Paul also always makes sure we have drinking water available and organizes the reading glasses.  There was still one restaurant open at the Lopez pier from the whale watching celebration so we enjoyed a fresh seafood dinner.

We were able to provide 195 services to our patients with Carla Crawford seeing general medical patients.  Carla was a first timer and did a great job adapting to new surroundings.  Claudia Hart saw the pediatric patients and Patricia Henthorn worked with the chiropractic patients.  Another first timer was Kimberly Kolansky who provided the patients with massage therapy.   We were fortunate to have two dentists, William Hickman and Greg Hatch, who saw patients and helped assess the needed repairs and changes for the dental area. Elizabeth Ingram, another first timer, was the very needed DA. Karen Felty, RDH, provided dental cleanings and also oversaw organization and assessment of needed dental supplies.  She was aided by helper, Doreen Logan.

Chuck Schroll worked in the pharmacy with Jack Collins, a helper volunteer.  Dispensing reading glasses and sunglasses was Steve Logan.  Ross McDonald was a helper with triage and Pat McClure handled the sterilization of dental equipment.  Our hard working interpreters included Christine Bingham, Cory Lovett, Lee LaFollette, and Kimberly Goff.

Our thanks go out to the Tucson Chapter members who helped with this clinic:  Christine Bingham, Greg Hatch, Carla Crawford and Jack Collins.

We always enjoy the delicious lunch prepared by Roberto Logan each month.  And, of course, Judith Logan is our invaluable local contact who helps maintain the clinic, communicates with us on relevant issues, takes photos for needed maintenance and interfaces with the cannery management.

Our monthly administrative meeting takes place on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Chandler Airport Conference room.  If you have an interest in attending, you are always welcome.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who contributed their time and energy to the March clinic.
