The Flying Samaritans May clinic took place on May 20 at Lopez Mateos.  We provided a total of 105 services to patients, including general medical, pediatrics, audiology, reading glasses and chiropractic.  Unfortunately, we did not have any dental services to offer on this trip.

Mark Brown and Olu Onisile provided the medical services, Claudia Hart saw pediatric patients and Patricia Henthorn saw chiropractic patients.  Bonnie Rettgers provided hearing tests and free hearing aids to those in need. Triage was fully staffed with Argelis Maldonado and Karen Leon.  Larry Karpurk along with helpers, Oliver Collins and Terry Harris, dispensed reading glasses.  Interpreters included Lisette Maldonado, Ana Torres, Lee LaFollette and Bonnie Lassen.

Charlie Brown and Scott Farrell delivered 40 pairs of eyeglasses to folks in Laguna San Ignacio Friday morning and then proceeded to Lopez where, with the help of Judith Logan, 60+ eyeglasses were given out.  The eye exams had been conducted last month.

Donna Brown provided two large first aid kits which were left at the LSI clinic for future use.

Our trusty pilots were Charlie Brown, Pat McClure, Larry Karpurk and Jim Gaskin.  Aeromédicos provided help with Jim Gaskin, pilot, who flew in with Bonnie Rettgers and Terry Harris. Charlie and Larry were the direct to Lopez planes and Pat and his passengers went to Mulegé.  Due to the lack of parking spaces at the Loreto Airport, Larry and his passengers flew home on Saturday afternoon.  Charlie and his passengers joined the others at Mulegé.

Guillermo and Andrea provided our delicious lunch.

Reminder:  Clinic repairs and maintenance are ongoing expenses.  We also purchase medications and needed medical equipment, so donations are always appreciated.  Renewing memberships is helpful whether you can schedule a clinic trip or not.  Also, it is helpful if passengers continue to bring a roll of paper towels and/or toilet paper on each trip to donate to the clinics.

We continue to need volunteer interpreters, dentists, chiropractors and pilots.  If you know of individuals who might be interested in joining our chapter, please direct them to the appropriate Coordinators.

Our clinics are successful because of the dedication of our volunteers.   Thank you one and all.
